Three friends meet at a restaurant for brunch on a Saturday afternoon. Patrick, Cynthia and Susie haven’t seen each other in a couple years, so they have lots to catch up on.

The waiter approaches to take their orders.

Waiter: Good afternoon. Welcome to Quintessential Kitchen. Are you ready to order?

Susie: I suppose so. Is everyone ready?

Cynthia and Patrick: Yes, we’re ready.

Waiter: What would you like?

Cynthia: I’d like to start off with a Manhattan, and the Waldorf Salad.

Waiter: Great choice. Our Waldorf Salad is made with vegan mayonnaise.

Susie: Now that’s interesting. Well, I’d like a Bloody Mary and Eggs Benedict.

Waiter: Excellent. How about the gentleman, what would you like, sir?

Patrick: I heard your Clam Chowder is really good.

Waiter: It certainly is. Manhattan Clam Chowder, naturally, non-dairy.

Patrick: Sounds healthy. And a lemonade, please. I love the idea of lemonade with basil leaves, which enhance its flavor so much! By the way, I may have a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon when my meal is served.

Waiter: It really does. I’ll be back with your drinks in a moment.

Manhattan cocktail
A strong cocktail with slight bitterness and some herbal undertones from the bitters and vermouth.
Waldorf Salad
A Waldorf salad is a fruit and nut salad generally made of fresh apples, celery, walnuts, and grapes, dressed in mayonnaise, and traditionally served on a bed of lettuce as an appetizer or a light meal.
A Bloody Mary is a cocktail containing vodka, tomato juice, and other spices and flavorings including Worcestershire sauce, hot sauces, garlic, herbs, horseradish, celery, olives, salt, black pepper, lemon juice, lime juice and celery salt.
Eggs Benedict
Eggs Benedict, a brunch staple consisting of poached eggs and Canadian bacon or sliced ham on an English muffin, topped with hollandaise sauce (a rich and creamy concoction made with egg yolks, butter, lemon juice or vinegar, and various seasonings).
Manhattan Clam Chowder
Manhattan clam chowder has a red, tomato-based broth with diced potatoes, salt pork, and onions, plus other vegetables such as celery and carrots.

Cabernet Sauvignon is a red grape varietal known for its thick, durable skin, and the vine’s resistance to the elements.
