SEAN AVOLIO

"All Up In My Candy" by Sean Avolio

.
Lucas Eller: I’m here with Sean Avolio, who’s a singer and performer in New York City. Is that correct?
Sean Avolio: Yes.
Lucas Eller: So, tell me a bit about your career. I heard you produced a music video?
Sean Avolio: Yeah, we just completed my second video, for my song “All Up In My Candy,” which can be seen on YouTube. The song is also available on iTunes and Amazon.
Lucas Eller: That’s very nice. Congratulations.
Sean Avolio: Thank you.
Lucas Eller: And, before we talk more about your music, which I’ve listened to and I love it, tell me a bit about yourself. You’re originally from the City of Chicago, is that correct?
Sean Avolio: I’m from the Chicago suburbs.
Lucas Eller: I’ve been to Chicago several times. Back in 2003 there was a possibility I’d move there, I used to fly there every two weeks. Because I was new to New York but I wasn’t busy enough here, so I was checking out the possibilities. Don’t take this personally, today I’m so happy I made my choice to be based in New York.
Sean Avolio: Why would I take it personally? New York has a lot more to offer than Chicago, but Chicago holds a special place in my heart, and it definitely has its perks over NYC.
Lucas Eller: Thanks for saying that, so I don’t feel bad. I’m not comparing the two cities, I just love New York. How long have you been in New York for?
Sean Avolio: Two and a half years.
Lucas Eller: And you are very welcome here, because good-looking people are more likely to succeed here.
Sean Avolio (laughs): Well, that may be true, but I like to think that I’ll be more likely to succeed due to my fervent ambition, strong work ethic, and vehement love for my art, not to mention my talent.
Lucas Eller: Nicely put. Who are your inspirations?
Sean Avolio: Oh, there are so many! David Bowie, George Michael, Tom Petty, and Billy Idol have all heavily influenced me. I’m also very much influenced by artists not associated with music, such as Tim Burton, Francis Bacon, and Marquis de Sade. I would have to say that my biggest influence is Madonna. As a pop artist, I’d be a fool not to be inspired by her. She is the epitome of pop perfection.
Lucas Eller: What can we be expecting from you in the future?
Sean Avolio: It’d probably be better to ask what won’t you be expecting from me! I’m working on a video series for YouTube at the moment, as well as putting together my live show that I will be performing around NYC. I’m also doing a lot of writing, both on paper and in the studio. I’m growing a lot as an artist right now, and a great deal of new opportunities have come to present themselves, so I’m just doing what I know and love and giving it my all. We will see where it takes me!
